Muchas si no es que todas las comunidades de guionismo en las que he estado se enfocan principalmente en guiones escritos en Inglés. Frecuentemente, escritores que hablan en Español tienen que traducir sus guiones al Inglés con tal de obtener retroalimentación y mucho termina perdiéndose en las traducciones. Y luego hay aquellos guionistas que hablan Español pero quieren escribir en Inglés y batallan. Cómo alguien que tiene experiencia leyendo y escribiendo guiones en ambos idiomas, he decidido dar retroalimentación en sus guiones a mis colegas hispanohablantes. Doy mínimo una página de comentarios para guiones de largometraje y pilotos completos, además de notas extra para el idioma y traducción, y una llamada telefónica o videoconferencia para ayuda extra. Dependiendo de mis otras obligaciones y el tiempo disponible, usualmente tardo un mínimo de dos días para dar retroalimentación y a lo mucho, dos semanas. Soy un escritor cuyo trabajo ha sido publicado en el New York Times, Rio Grande Review y Seattle Star. He escrito guiones de largometraje y cortometraje para una casa productora ascendiente en México y he asistido en la traducción de trabajos cómo 13, 500 Volts, cortometraje documental nominado al Ariel. He dado clases de Arte, Producción de Video, Fotografía y Creación Literaria a niveles de secundaria y universidad. Tengo guiones que han sido reconocidos en festivales y concursos cómo el Sundance Lab y el Austin Film Festival. He escrito crítica de cine para revistas, blogs y he sido invitado en programas televisivos y podcasts de crítica de cine. Cuento con una Licenciatura en Creación Literaria, una Maestría en Arte y Diseño, y actualmente curso una Maestría en Creación Literaria.

Most if not all screenwriting communities I’ve attended are mainly focused on screenplays written in English. Often, Spanish-speaking writers I know have to translate their scripts into English in order to get feedback with much getting lost in translation. And then there are those Spanish-speaking writers that wish to write in English but struggle.  As someone who has experience reading and writing scripts in both languages, I have decided to give my fellow Spanish-speakers feedback for their screenplays. And if you don’t speak or write in Spanish but wish for feedback, no worries, you can send me your script for feedback too if you’d like! I give at least one page of feedback off full scripts for pilots and feature scripts, as well as additional notes on language and translation, plus a phone or video call for further assistance. I’m a published writer whose work has been featured in The New York Times, Rio Grande Review and the Seattle Star. I’ve worked writing feature and short screenplays with a rising production company in Mexico, and have assisted in subtitle creation for the likes of 13,500 Volts, which was nominated for a Mexican Academy Award for Best Documentary Short. I’ve also taught Art, Digital Video Production, Photography and Creative Writing at junior high school and college levels. I have scripts that have placed highly in the Austin Film Festival and the Sundance Lab. I’ve written film criticism for film magazines, blogs and have been a guest on film criticism TV shows and podcasts. I have a BA in Creative Writing with a minor in Film Studies, a Master’s in Art and Design and I’m a year away from graduating on my Creative Writing MFA.
